Well, I could use a little break. Just give me a bit and I'll be right over.
[It'll take him at least a half hour or so before he comes around Sattsu's place again. He'll be standing at the foot of the stairs for a bit, frowning slightly. He's not great with heights and needed a moment to keep it together before ascending the stairs.]
[ Sattsu notices him coming, but also notices him just... standing there. He leans a little over the ledge to the training deck Azuma made, making sure to only lean out from shoulders up. He's pretty sure he'd be irrepairable if he fell. ]
Ah-! [Dammit, he only took a step!] Oh, I'm...just admiring the place, you know. [He laughs awkwardly, but then slumps over.] I'm really bad with heights.
Do you want me to come down? I get it. I mean, I'm okay with this height, but Dio had me in his plane once and I was terrified. What if I broke the belt and fell out!
I-I wouldn't ever want to go into a plane after an experience like that. Oh, don't forget the mochi! [He'll seat himself on the steps while Sattsu's coming down then.]
[He hums quietly. Airplanes don't really exist for him yet, but he has an idea already thanks to airships. Once Sattsu joins he gives him a wave, making room for him to sit down.]
All right, so...my understanding of how this works, is that I eat the mochi and share the experience with you while eating it.
Mm. [He takes one of the mochi, considering how to actually approach this. He closes his eyes, and takes a bite. He chews it for a bit longer than he usually does, letting the taste really come out from the doughy goodness. The sticky rice itself wasn't quite as flavorful until the red bean mixes in, giving it a sweet and nutty taste. Hopefully he manages to translate this taste over to Sattsu well enough that he can feel the sensation like he's tasting himself.]
[ Since he doesn't have tastebuds, and doesn't know the difference between sweet or nutty, not really. Sadly, it doesn't translate at all. So for now he's just looking at him, waiting. He was expecting, you know, how it made him feel emotionally, since he doesn't really know flavours. ]
[By the way he's humming, it's a good indication that he feels happiness from eating this mochi. He looks down at the remaining bits of mochi and decides to finish the rest of it. No reason to hold back and get the most of the experience, right?
Along with the flavors, a flow of colors will suddenly start to swirl rapidly around in his mind, changing colors like a gradient. There's a clacking sound of something like a wood chime that clack depending on the speed of the colors. It starts up quickly, but then slows to a continuous rhythm as he eats and finishes his mochi.] Mm, so good...ah, did that actually work? [He had no idea what he was doing.]
[ Though the flavours are nothing but words in his mind, the colours are much more instesting. And then there's the sounds... finally they're getting somewhere! He's a bit disappointed that it ended so quickly, but he's excited that some of it worked. ] Some of it! I saw the colours, and the sounds. What'd the sounds mean? Was it, like, a memory of when you've eaten it?
A sound...? [He looks surprised by that.] It might have been. What exactly was the sound? [Did he subconsciously make some kind of sound, or was it just him chewing?]
Bonk...bonk? [HMMM.] Let me have another one. [He swipes another mochi, giving himself a moment to relax and then starts eating. It takes a little longer this time, because he's thinking about it. Once he actually just enjoys eating that mochi, the swirling colors will eventually appear again, but now there's the sound of wind blowing, and the rustling of grass.]
. . . [He leans back, crossing his arms.] I guess I'm remembering home. Maybe it's summer time and I'm sitting out on the porch in the yard with my parents, having mochi.
That might be it? It doesn't tell me anything about what it tastes like, cus nutty and sweet are just words to me, but the memories sound the other type of sweet.
Oh, you couldn't really get the flavors? [His shoulders slump, scratching his cheek.] I guess it didn't work as well as I had hoped, or maybe I'm just doing it wrong.
